Burlington, Iowa, August 18, 2004 - Because today’s RVs are getting bigger and taller, Winegard, a leader in mobile TV reception for the RV market for many years, has introduced a new lower-profile version of its Movin' ViewTM in-motion mobile satellite TV system, the LP-1000. “A height of six inches is what sets the Winegard LP-1000 system apart from our Movin' ViewTM Series and other mobile television satellite antennas,” said Randy Winegard, president, Winegard. “Plus, because of its low-profile, the LP-1000 will not interfere with other equipment installed on the vehicle’s roof.”
When Winegard introduced the Movin' ViewTM Series of domed in-motion mobile satellite TV systems for the RV market, it was first to provide automatic toggle (switching) between both DIRECTV® and DISH® Network’s satellites using a remote control. The LP-1000 has this same automatic toggle ability, Winegard’s Low Profile Reflector Antenna Technology using the same concept as home-based antennas, DVB (Digital Video Broadcasting) circuitry to verify the antenna has located the correct satellite and GPS technology to determine the RV’s location. All of this advanced technology delivers the fastest and most reliable satellite acquisition system on the market today.
This ability to toggle between multiple satellites means that no other low-profile satellite system on the market delivers more channels. Using the same wireless remote control used at home, Motor home, camper and trailer owners who own a LP-1000 and have existing satellite subscriptions can start receiving live satellite TV in their vehicles immediately, with the push of one button, for a nominal monthly fee.
“Using this Low Profile In-Motion Satellite Antenna, these larger RV vehicle owners can now enjoy the same 300 channels plus of live, consistently clear digital network’s programming, on the move, with any video system and on any video display, without height concerns” said Reed Brown, Director of Winegard’s Mobile Group. Winegard has now entered the automotive market, applying its advanced satellite antenna tracking technology to the new RoadTripXLPTM.

When Winegard introduced the Movin' ViewTM Series of domed in-motion mobile satellite TV systems for the RV market, it was first to provide automatic toggle (switching) between both DIRECTV® and DISH® Network’s satellites using a remote control. Winegard’s main competitor’s system is limited to half the channels delivered by the RoadTripXLP, offering only DIRECTV® service, because their antenna is “frequency dependent” and can only receive DIRECTV®’ satellite frequencies. Consumers, who own a RoadTripXLP and have existing satellite subscriptions with DIRECTV or DISH Network can start receiving live satellite TV in their vehicles immediately, with the push of one button, for a nominal monthly fee.
And the RoadTripXLP offers a greater geographic coverage area because it has a much greater range of elevation than competitive products. The lightweight RoadTrip XLP, weighing only 62 lbs and only 6 inches high, mounts securely to the rooftop of most SUVs and minivans for an aerodynamic, integrated look. The unit is easy to install and has tamper-resistant mounting hardware to deter theft. It also is removable when a vehicle is sold. The antenna housing is constructed of rust- and impact-resistant plastic which is sealed to keep out all elements, and can be finished to match virtually any vehicle color.
