Before choosing to consult on my own, I worked many years for the two largest ad agencies in the world, J. Walter Thompson Company and Campbell-Ewald Advertising (Managing Director) and owned a small AAAA agency for years in Miami. After managing both the clients and employees at the same time (I had 55 in Miami), I came to realize that one-on-one efforts with my clients were the most productive and successful for them and the most enjoyable for me. I¡¯ve worked from home for the past 11 years, without the huge overhead and my production costs in Memphis are very reasonable, so all costs to my clients are very low.
Although originally I concentrated on the marketing and management sides of the business, I am thoroughly knowledgeable and experienced in all of the other support disciplines, including writing dozens of business plans, marketing plans, market and focus group research, creative planning and development, media planning and buying, all areas of media production and full corporate public relations planning, writing and implementation. I have managed divisions of employees as large as 500.
You may know of The Winegard Company. If you don¡¯t, they¡¯ve been in business 56 years in Burlington Iowa and currently design and manufacture more than 1,000 different products in seven product lines. I consulted in the capacity of an outside Marketing Director (believe it or not, they didn¡¯t have a marketing director and now still don¡¯t) for 4 years for 5 groups at Winegard (Off-Air, Telematics, iCON, Mobile Group and DataTech¡¯s ¡°Two-way Fixed/Transportable Mobile Satellite Internet Systems¡±), until the Off-Air Group was closed recently. I lost Winegard as a client and the entire Off-Air Antenna/Signal Distribution Group was let go in a budget cutting move.
